UCLA and UDG organize their first Summer Course

The UCLA Office of Instructional Development, the University of Guadalajara and the Center for Studies on North America (CESAN) jointly ran the summer course Public Choice Theory, Geopolitics and the Institutional Framework of Globalization. It took place July 9-19, 2008.
This course, in which 17 university students took part, was a component of the Summer Academic Stay Program of the University of Guadalajara at Los Angeles (UDGLA). The course’s objective was to provide participants with knowledge about the latest developments in political science and international relations by examining both theoretical and practical elements of public choice and contemporary geopolitics.
The course was taught by professors Dr. Thomas Schwartz, Dr. Jean Tompihe, Dr. James W. Wilkie, Dr. Alfonso J. Galindo and Carlos Heredia, all of whom are well regarded in their fields of research.
Topics covered included the theory of public choice, geopolitics and the institutional framework of globalization.
